Spiced Chicken Patties

These patties pack a punch. They really do. Spice powders, shallots and herbs lend that extra taste and flavour to these easy to make patties. Sandwich them in between slices or pockets, or just have them as appetizers.

This here, is the recipe for two patties that I had prepared and that’s why the measurements are in pinches. 🙂

Summary

  • Course: appetizer
  • Cooking Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

Ground Chicken
Lightly beaten Egg
Shallot
Garlic
Paprika
Coriander powder
Turmeric powder
Garam masala powder
Cumin powder
Pepper powder
Salt
Sugar
Lime juice
Mint & Coriander
Bread crumbs
Oregano

Steps

  1. Take a mixing bowl and add about two golf ball size of ground chicken meat to it(for two patties). Add one or two finely chopped shallot, one clove minced garlic, paprika and pepper powder to taste, fat pinch of coriander powder, wee pinch of turmeric, fat pinch of garam masala, pinch of cumin powder, salt to taste, pinch of sugar, half of the lightly beaten egg, squeeze of lime, and about 1tbsp of finely chopped mintcoriander leaves. Throw in about 1/4cup of breadcrumbs. You may add a bit of oregano too. I did.
  2. Combine the entire contents of the bowl gently and thoroughly. Shape the mix firmly into patties by hand. Set aside.
  3. To crumb the patty(optional), take two plates. In one, add enough breadcrumbs to bread the patties. In the next, add the remaining lightly beaten egg. You can season the breadcrumbs too and add herbs as well if you like.
  4. Take a patty and carefully coat with egg on both sides. Dredge in breadcrumbs. Set aside. Continue with next. (You can also just coat them in breadcrumbs without egg)
  5. Heat just about enough oil or butter in a skillet to shallow fry the patties. Place the patties in the hot skillet and fry both sides until done.
  6. Serve warm with slaw and drink, or stack them in burgers or sandwiches or pita or along with a main meal, as you like it. 🙂
  7. You can omit the crumb coat and fry the plain patty as soon as they are done shaping.
